Disaster Education

 
Individuals wishing to become dedicated Red Cross disaster responders must first complete an application and orientation conducted by the executive director. Once the orientation is completed, prospective volunteers must undertake a sufficient series of educational courses, starting with “Introduction to Disasters.”  Other training offered in the region includes:
  • Public affairs
  • Setting up a shelter
  • Developing family-service interviewing skills
  • Helping local officials bolster disaster response measures
  • In-kind donations
  • Delivering quality community disaster education
